Hello,
My name is Carlos Fernando a Brazilian artist ( www.carlossketch.blogspot.com.br) and I use Blender. How you make a hair using Cycles render?

Hi, Carlos.

Thanks for taking interest. The strands of hair are achieved by using a Particle System instancing a random curve surface and then edited via Particle Edit mode then with some tweaking via weight painting.

Hi Reynante,

Very groovy character. Well Done.
Would you mind telling how you got the SSS Skin shader working on Cycles? looks beatiful.

Thank you very

Rodrigo

Hi, Rodrigo. It wasn't actually an SSS shader per se. I achieved the effect by cheating the mesh structure and a simple straightforward material node setup.

I've updated the post with a screenshot on my skin setup.

You'll notice that I have used two objects (or a disconnected set of faces if you wish), the inside object defines the thickness area, therefore reducing the SSS effect. You'll notice that I don't have any on the ear parts since I want the shader to affect it entirely.

The shader is a mixture of Diffuse Shader, Glossy Shader, and Translucent Shader accordingly.

Hope this helps. :)
